A.B., Mathematics – Minor in Secondary Education (’90)
I had a wonderful journey at EC. I majored in math with a minor in secondary education with the plan to teach high school math. While there I was involved in the Choraleers, ODK, the ARP student union, the Student Christian Association, the education society, and we began a math society. My experience at EC prepared me well for my career. I began teaching math at Ninety Six High School in 1991. I became National Board Certified in AYA mathematics in 2000 and have retained that certification since then. I moved into my current school counselor position in 2016. I am a founding member and current treasurer of the South Carolina National Board Network. The education field is in need of people in many different fields who are looking for a chance to prepare the next generation. I would be happy to speak to anyone who has questions about what that entails.
