Peggy Herrill graduated from Erskine College with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry, initially planning to become a medical technologist. After her husband continued his education at Clemson University, she accepted an on-the-job training position in respiratory therapy and quickly discovered her passion for the field.

Thanks to the strong scientific foundation she received at Erskine, she completed respiratory therapy school in just six months instead of the traditional two years. Herrill went on to spend more than 40 years in respiratory care, primarily serving in neonatal intensive care. She credits her Erskine education with providing the knowledge in biology and chemistry, as well as the confidence and critical-thinking skills, that supported her throughout her career.

Why serve on the Alumni Board?

Peggy serves on the board because she cares about what happens at Erskine both now and in the future.

Why give to Erskine?

Peggy gives back to the school because she wants students to be able to experience Erskine College and Due West.
